Keller Palike Montierth

Welcome to our family baby Keller. Keller was born on Wednesday March 30th at 2:09 pm. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces, and 20 1/2 inches long. Keller is my mom's maiden and we are unsure of the orgin, if it is Irish or not, I believe so, but not quite sure. Palike (Pa-lee-kay) is Hawaiian for Bryce, which we think is suiting.

His delivery was relatively smooth, it wasn't until after that they realized he had a few complications. Keller had what is called pneumothorax, which is fairly common in c-section babies. He had air in his lungs, both sides and most of the time it clears up on its own, which thankfully his did. I saw him for maybe 5 minutes, after Bryce begged the nurses to bring him to me, they weren't going to. After those few minutes, I didn't see him until Thursday morning, it was awful! He had to be on oxygen, had a few chest x-rays and an IV, all of this without me there. I was pretty much a basketcase that first night!

Once I got him, I had him most of the day. It was horrible to see his arm taped up to keep the IV in place and then they attached the oxygen to his face which caused his cheeks to be red, which they still are. He is doing really well now.

We got home on Saturday and the kids have been going crazy! They are completely in love with him and it is very sweet to see them with him. I was a little worried about Carter's reaction, but he loves him. He talks about baby Kewhar (those ll's are hard for a 2 year old!) and how much he loves him.

They are obsessed with holding him, which is quite sweet. Leilani is very attentive and is a little mother and Brady is too. Almost a fight over who can hold him first and who can help mom. We feel very blessed that he is apart of our family. The feel of a newborn is unlike anything else and once again, I am in love!

Last Day

Today is my last day with only 3 of these little ones. I am getting very excited to meet this new little guy that I have been blessed with knowing for the past 9 months. I cannot believe that the day is coming!

Tomorrow I check-in at the hospital in the morning, but will not get to meet him until the afternoon. The doc doesn't want me to pass out, so I am going in early to start an IV. No food or drink before a spinal tap (yuck! makes me queasy just thinking about it!)

Gus-gus has been moving like crazy and I can't wait to get my hands on him. There is nothing like a fresh sweet spirit straight from Our Father in Heaven to put everything into perspective, what a blessing they truly are!

Here's to tomorrow! Maybe we will have a moved from a prenatal name to a real name, love our gus-gus though!

First Ride

I think that time is passing by more quickly then I think and here we are halfway done with March and preparing to have another baby!

Well, these are pics that show Leilani on her first ride on her bike, Christmas day. This was her big Christmas gift last year. She was instantly comfortable and no issues wanting to ride it. We have a street on the side of the house and she is out there all the time keeping up with her big brother. Love bikes! Great way to get them outside and exercise and I love the weather where we are perfect for riding!

Blessings of being mom

Yesterday was the beginning of 3 weeks in a row as a "Sunday Widow", my friend calls those of us who are husbandless on Sundays. It is a little crazy getting 3 kids out the door and myself, who seems to be a tad slower these days and on time for church. We were doing pretty well, but as we were walking out the door, I looked in the front room and the clean-up that was supposed to happen, looked like a tornado hit! I knew there was going to be some complaining when we got home.

Church was fairly uneventful but I swear Carter needs a diaper change every time Bryce isn't there, crazy how that works!

We got home and I bribed the kids with "The First Mommy Kiss" for whoever cleans up the fastest, quite cute! Haven't seen them move that fast without treats involved so fun! The reward didn't seem like a reward to me! We then moved on to their room for "The Second Mommy Kiss" the results were the same!

Carter had a terrible day yesterday. Friday was diaper day and I had him in paper, but he had a bad case of diaper rash as a result. Can I tell this alone is why I love cloth diapers? He has had multiple stinkies in a day and how can you even have a chance to clear it up? He could hardly sleep during naptime it was so awful and finally I held him and rocked him for the next hour and a half. Oh such hard work! It was so sweet, my back hurt, baby was kicking him like crazy, dishes weren't done, dinner wasn't ready when it needed to be, but who cares??? I was having the best day, just being mom!

All of the sweet times to be with my kids and love them, what better gift is that? Then I think of this sweet little boy almost ready to join our family and I think my cup spilleth over! Now, if I had my sweet husband around more, not complaining, he is working hard but I sure do miss him!

Funny eater!

Carter is the pickiest eater! The only proteins that he will eat are peanut butter and scrambled eggs. I am completely fine with no meat, but please eat your veggies and beans! Well I have always given him the same things that we eat, at least try them, right? Yesterday we had ants on a log with craisins, he took the craisins off and dipped the pb celery into ranch dressing, yuck! But he ate it, wahoo!

Today, I was enjoying my tuna sandwich (a fav or mine right now!) with some romaine lettuce on the top. He asked for some, so I gave him a piece. He took a bite, never happens and then he proceeded to wrap the crusts from his pb & honey sandwich in the lettuce. He ate it, not all of it, but yeah!

Reminds me of my friend's son who eats pb & jelly with sprouts? Oh well, they eat what they like. No complaints here, as long as he is eating some veggies! Maybe I won't always have to hide his veggies in his smoothies and there is a potential veggie lover like his mom, here's hoping!

Ring around the mommy

Brady is constantly drawing and he loves drawing the family. I love how he draws me with the ring around the belly and if you look closely there he is, our little gus-gus!

Can't wait to meet him, but want him in for a little longer. I have been having a few contractions, some days not quite so few! Last week I had them about 2 minutes apart for a couple of hours. Doc said to call if they get too close and he could put me on some medicine to slow them down. I did what the doctor ordered and started the medicine. It has slowed them down, but some nights they are still 5 minutes apart. I am trying to really take it easy and let things go, which is not my strong suit! Especially when I know a baby is coming and soon, then there is a lot to get done! Just a few more weeks and then he will be safer to come, just hoping that he will stay put until then!

A New Day

Yesterday day was a not so good day, especially when it came to my 3-year-old. She gets a little mouthy and not so nice sometimes, but there is always hope for a new day. Today, (please do not jinx!) has been a much better day. I loved watching Carter and Leilani sitting together and reading. She really does think that she can read and wanted to share it with her little brother.
